We were very busy this week! You will see in your child's guided reading folders the books coming home will start to become more challenging. We will be working on reading like we talk, decoding words we don't know and making sure they make sense in the sentence. You will see the same one or two books come home all week so they can work on fluency. It is important that they know the words by sight if pulled out of context so they can build on their vocabulary.
Word Wall Words: Little Elm, Frisco, play, of
Writing: We are continuing to work on correct letter formation, details in our pictures, and sentences to descibe our pictures. **This would be a great time if you haven't already to start a journal at home and ask your child to write in it daily. This should be done independently so they can learn how to generate ideas on their own and sound out the words.
Math: We are working on 3 dimensional shapes (cube, sphere, cone, cylinder, rectangular prism).
We are continuing to work on problem solving, addition and subtration problems, UPS check.
Science: We worked with liquid and solids as well as heating and cooling. We did several experiments using ice. Ask your child what melts ice the quickest? water, salt or foil??
