A look at our week

Language Arts
•Word Wall Words- orange and a

•ORANGE Color song

•Rhyming words- hearing and identifying using Willaby Wallaby Poem

•Journal writing will continue as we focus on what is in the picture. Talking about how the picture tells the story. We will always include a character, setting and event.  We will work on using sounds we know to form our words while writing our thoughts.

•We will discuss how we choose a TOPIC and brainstorm ideas for writing.

•Create My Favorite color book page for our yearbook.
•We will practice what good readers look like.  We look at the pictures to help us with the story.  We read the title, author and illustrator's name.  We do a picture walk through the book to make predictions about the story.  I can take care of my books, put them away when I'm finished and keep them in a safe place.

•Practice Letters and Sounds and review words that start with those sounds.

***Readers Workshop has started where the students are moving around the room completing work stations on their own.  These include: listening center with book review, reading center with book review, computer center on Starfall.com, writing center- writing their favorite part of the school day, poetry center- illustrating the orange song, pocket chart working  on rhyming words, ABC center-complete the missing letters, word work- word wall words, magnetic center- word wall words, and write the room- writing words around the room.

Math
•Vocab words: more, less
•We will practice sorting objects by different attributes.
•Problem solving daily

**Math workshop has started where the students will rotate through math games that work on skills we are learning in math.  (patterning, sorting, counting, matching, identifiy numbers to 20 and counting to 20)
Science
•Vocab Words: See, hear, smell, touch, taste (continued from last week)

•Taste test and discuss taste buds (sweet, sour, bitter and salty)
•Touch- Make a hand with the feelings on each finger tip. (bumpy, hard, rough, smooth, soft)
•Smell Test- making predictions of what they smell
