Our week...

Poetry:  President's Day
Word Work: ten, have
Word Family:  -ay word family
Handwriting: l,t,k (tall letters, taller than the others)
Phonics: 2 way sort hearing middle sounds. Choose 2 vowels and students will sort words/pictures by their middle sound
Writing Block:   I can write on a topic.
Read a story about George Washington and make a tree map of Washington facts. Then students will write facts about George Washington.
Read a story about Abraham Lincoln and make a tree map of Lincoln  facts. Then students will write facts about Abraham Lincoln.
We will make 2 class books on teeth!
 Reading Block :  I can establish a purpose for reading using informational text.  Student will respond in their journals with charcters, problem, solution and settings.  They may also write about a connection they made with the book.

Math Block:
I can make graphs to help me answer questions.
I can use a graph to answer questions.

Students should be able to identify animals and places on a farm and why they are important.


Vocabulary:

Farm: a plot of land devoted to the raising of animals and especially domestic livestock
Tool Shed: small building where farmer stores tools
Farm House:
home for the farmer and family
Garden: a plot of ground where herbs, fruits, flowers, or vegetables are grown
Crop field: an area of cleared enclosed land used for cultivation or pasture
Pasture: an area of cleared enclosed land used for animals to graze
Barn: a usually large building for the storage of farm products or feed and usually for the housing of farm animals or farm equipment
Pig Pen: area on farm where pigs are kept
Pond: a body of water usually smaller than a lake
Chicken Coop: small building where chickens roost at night
